Case Studies

Trinity Grammar School

Trinity Grammar School - Summer Hill - NSW

"Trinity Grammar School introduced ClickView 24-7 to the school community in March 2008. While the use of video tapes has not been phased out completely, ClickView 24-7 has meant that no new recorded tapes have been added to the collection this year.

The school community has embraced the use of 24-7 and demand for digital programmes shows no sign of slowing. Across all teaching faculties, teachers have been accessing programmes downloaded from ClickView 24-7 both to preview and plan lessons on their own computers and as teaching resources on the classroom computers.

Our students and teachers can access the ClickView videos from any computer in the school, which has allowed much broader use of videos in lessons. Teachers like the freedom that ClickView 24-7 offers - they can base a complete lesson around a whole programme or show individual chapters to illustrate a concept or stimulate discussion.

Also, students may use their own time to watch an assigned video and complete the worksheet attached as a resource. The most obvious improvement in the operation of our audio-visual collection is that our AV librarian no longer needs to plan the taping of individual programmes in advance. Teachers may request a programme for up to a week after it has been broadcast, ensuring peace of mind that a valuable programme has not been missed."

"We love ClickView and 24-7! Teachers, as we all know, are a disorganised bunch - if I had a dollar for every time a teacher said, "Did you record ... last week?" I wouldn't need to work anymore! With ClickView 24-7, my answer is no longer, "No, sorry, I didn't know you wanted it," but is instead, "Sure, I'll get it for you!" The teaching staff are happier than ever with the service we are now able to provide.

How often do you catch the tail end of a program and think, "Wow, that would be fantastic to use with my Year 10s next week..."? Most of us simply don't have the time or inclination to read the TV Guide a week in advance and try to figure out if programs might be useful curriculum resources.

In the past, teacher librarians or AV assistants have recorded thousands of hours of programs on the off chance they may come in handy. This cost hundreds of hours of processing time, and even more in dollars for DVD or VHS recording equipment and materials. So much of the time, the resource sat unused in the collection, because it didn't fit the curriculum, or teachers simply didn't know about it.

With ClickView 24-7, our whole approach has changed. No more hours wasted poring over TV guides. No more time spent setting recorders and praying the power doesn't go out. No more piles of DVDs (or VHSs) mounting up because of lack of processing time.

While staff may still let us know in advance when they want a program recorded, the majority of the time we're now grabbing free-to-air programs from our 24-7 setup, up to ten days after the program aired. MAJOR timesaver, MAJOR money saver! And between 24-7 and ClickView Exchange, we almost always have a very satisfied teacher. I can't recommend this system highly enough. Thanks ClickView!"
