St Patrick’s College
A video content hub at the core of school life
Mrs Liz Skinner is the Head of Information Services at St Patrick’s College, Shorncliffe. She has used ClickView for many years and is a firm advocate for the platform in her current role, offering in-service training and support to teachers.

As Head of Information Services at St Patrick’s College Shorncliffe, Mrs Liz Skinner knows how valuable it is to have a video platform that is easy to use.
For Liz, a video platform should have high functionality, deliver quality material and ultimately enable a better teaching and learning environment for everyone.
This is exactly what ClickView is delivering at St Patrick’s.
Responsible for offering in-service training and support to teachers, Liz has used ClickView for many years, and she is a firm advocate for the platform in her current role.
“Our ClickView advisor clearly knows the product and will listen to the way we want to use it. We get help to make the most of its functionality to suit our purposes. ClickView support staff and development teams respond quickly, and they have designed a system for teachers who are not so IT-literate can manage quite easily”.
A platform that is secure, safe and central
Like most large high schools, St Patrick’s is a busy place. And like most schools, its teachers and students all use video daily. So it makes sense to save valuable teaching and learning time by having a single central place to store, search and access video content.
In use at St Patrick’s for over 11 years now, ClickView is the only video platform that teachers and students use. And it’s not just housing its own signature videos.
ClickView is becoming home to the school’s precious archival collection of performances and other school events, while also hosting in- house videos created by teachers.

But that’s not all.
Liz shares a reassuring observation about ClickView at her school that points to best practice in an educational setting in terms of Australian copyright and privacy laws:
“ClickView becomes a YouTube alternative which is vital in a school where you want to protect the privacy of the kids. We can upload or create a video in-house and the only way that you can get to it is via the link. Then we’re abiding by Australian privacy laws and copyright which is a problem with other platforms,” Liz explains.
Ease of access and ease of use
In thousands of schools around Australia, ClickView is defined by its ease of access and ease of use. Liz has seen evidence of this many times with teachers at St Patrick’s:
“99% of teachers that I show are in ClickView and exploring within 30 seconds. They don’t even need training as they can make their way around it. And that’s the beauty of it,” she says. “In terms of navigation, it’s very easy to see where you are and where you’re going,” she adds.
“It’s easy to search and upload a video using your workspace.”
St Patricks has integrated ClickView with the SchoolBox LMS and Microsoft to deliver content to students. This integration is win win for teachers and students. Content is easily uploaded, easily searched and easily shared.
At St Patrick’s, ClickView has become a daily part of school life.
It’s simplicity of use has made the platform the ‘go to’ when looking for content:
“The teachers rely on it, and they can usually find something that’s at the right level for students on a topic. They don’t come away from ClickView empty-handed, particularly with Exchange.”
“Also, we no longer need to have someone taping the news or various things from television: it’s literally all there for you in their TV section of it,” she adds.
And for St Patrick’s students, ClickView has become second nature for them to access lesson content and search for videos on their own.
“It’s become so integral that they often don’t realise they’ve clicked into it when they move from SchoolBox. It’s fantastic! It’s also a tick to ClickView’s reliability and usability in terms of how easy it is to use and how much content you’ve got there,” Liz explains.
Connecting students for learning now and in the future
As learning delivery changes to meet pandemic restrictions, ClickView has been a vital way for St Patrick’s to connect learners and teachers and enable whole school participation.
During the lockdown, St Patricks’ teachers began building a repository of mini how-to videos to act as tutorials for topics such as maths, spelling and grammar that they’ll use again and again.
Teachers were able to provide differentiated learning by creating customised videos for students in certain programs.

“That’s been really core and was absolutely crucial over times of remote learning,” Liz says.
ClickView’s hosting abilities have been instrumental in bringing the school together for special events.
During Indigenous Awareness Week, Liz used the platform to stream in His Blood to 56 classrooms simultaneously! “It was a full hour-long film and because of COVID-19 we couldn’t have everyone in the same space, so we streamed it to each class. ClickView played it and handled it well.” Liz relays.
ClickView support at our fingertips
For St Patrick’s, ClickView has become a ‘must-have’ investment, equal in importance to their cataloguing and administration system.
In addition to the breadth and quality of content, the support received from ClickView greatly influences how well it is used at the school.
“Our ClickView advisor clearly knows the product and will listen to the way we want to use it. We get help to make the most of its functionality to suit our purposes. ClickView support staff and development teams respond quickly, and they have designed a system for teachers who are not so IT-literate can manage quite easily”.
“This is why we have lots of teachers who are very happy to use ClickView at St Patricks.” Liz concludes.
