Causes of Lunar Eclipse

The Study of the Universe

On a full moon, when the Moon passes directly behind the Earth into its shadow, a lunar eclipse occurs. When the moon is entirely within the umbra, it causes a total lunar eclipse. When only a small part of the Moon’s surface is covered by the umbra, a partial lunar eclipse occurs.
