Understanding Postnatal Depression
Postnatal depression (PND), also known as postpartum depression (PPD), is a condition that affects mothers and sometimes fathers soon after the birth of a child. PND is clinical depression and must be differentiated from the relatively normal instability of moods that can occur in the parents of newborns. This programme defines PND and contrasts it with other conditions. Contributing factors will be explored as well as some of the current treatments available. A case study of PND will provide insight into the life of someone who has experienced it.
