Managing Challenging Behaviour
Care home residents can become difficult or aggressive and it is important that care workers understand how to manage this type of behaviour. The excellent program examines how care staff can work with service users who may be aggressive or violent. We examine what is challenging behaviour, who can present challenging behaviour; reasons for challenging behaviour, prediction and prevention, undertaking proper risk assessments, how to respond appropriately, verbal responses, and body language. Additionally we discuss how carers on the best ways of keeping themselves and other service users safe in unsafe situations, and why it is important to try to understand that there may be unknown reasons for challenging behaviour.
